Please accept my apologies for the wide gap between blog postings. Our economic climate and pace of business sometimes occupies the majority of my disposable time. I am proud to say that the hotel industry, large in part to Visit Denver, the Convention and Visitors Bureau, is booming through mid-November in Denver.
The long-awaited Denver Beer Fest is upon us, as local breweries feature dozens of special events leading up to the Daddy of Them All, the Great American Beer Festival this Thursday through Sunday at the Colorado Convention Center. 495 breweries are represented in the "hall", sporting 3,362 of the most luscious suds in the land. 73 beers are entered in the Pro-Am Competition, and a precious few will take home the gold. Follow the sold-out event on Twitter and start combing Craigs List for your last minute tickets.
I've had the pleasure of volunteering for this event the last seven years, after my first year in Denver as a paid attendee...trust me, the way to go is to POUR. With tickets approaching $100, you get free entry, a never-out-of-style "Brew Crew" tee, and as many 1oz. pours of brewskie as you can handle...and lots of breaks to sample the goods. did I mention complimentary entry? Work two shifts and get a free ticket to attend another night of the Fest. Want in? Contact my friend Carol Hiller via Linked In long before the 2010 show to sign up!
Though I won't spend too much time describing it, Kooza, the latest in Cirque Du Soleil, graces Denver with its Transformer-esque tent show aside Pepsi Center through October 4. Always eerily entertaining, Kooza will astonish patrons with wondrous acrobatics and feats of clown strength. This isn't Poltergeist clowning, but I'm still fascinated and frightened at the same time. Visit Denver365.com for tickets and times.
I'm proud to report that the first Art Salon at Hotel Teatro was a great success. Over 200 people enjoyed the industrial-inspired artwork of the gifted and talented Sharon Feder, and the tunes of Cowhause (featuring sister Janet Feder) at our fine establishment last Wednesday evening. A tremendous thanks to Michael Schenkelberg with 5280 Live and David Ehrlich with Denver Theatre District for your imagination and creativity, which cuminated to a memorable event. Special gratitude to Dawn Williams and the Kevin Taylor Restaurant Group for complimentary bites and discounted spirits...you are our perfect partner. You can enjoy Denver Theatre District's Art Salon at Hotel Teatro every month (most months the event will be held on the third Wednesday of the month) through next summer...just call me for details or visit www.denvertheatredistrict.com for an event schedule. Want to see how poor I am with Flip Video? Click here for a short tour, and try not to be reminded of Blair Witch Project...it would take away from some terrific art.
